Identifying a piece
Shoot the pattern straight on, filling the frame, in even light. Most misses are one of three things: the shot is blurry, half the piece is in shadow, or the pattern is at too steep an angle to read. The app tells you which one it saw and offers to retake the photo. A backstamp shot helps when a pattern was produced in several forms.
Unmarked, heavily worn, or reproduction pieces are genuinely hard, and the app will say the match is uncertain rather than guess confidently.
About the value estimate
Values come from public eBay sold listings — what comparable pieces actually sold for, not asking prices. That makes the number a market signal, not an appraisal: condition, completeness, lid presence, rarity and timing move real prices well outside the range shown. When too few sales exist to be meaningful, the app says the data is thin instead of showing a confident number.

Identifying a piece, seeing its result and sharing it are free forever. Patternly Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: it removes every ad and unlocks the collection catalog, sold-price history and trends, rarity and watchlist alerts, and condition and reproduction grading. There is nothing recurring and nothing to cancel.
Restoring a purchase
New phone, or reinstalled the app? Open Settings and tap Restore purchase. Use the same store account (Google account on Android, Apple Account on iOS) that you bought with — the store is what remembers the purchase, so a different account will legitimately find nothing.
Refunds
Refunds are handled by the store that took the payment, not by us: on Android through Google Play, on iOS through Apple. If something in the app is the reason you want one, email us first — we would rather fix it.
Ads in the free version
The free version is ad-supported. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked to choose about personalised ads before any ad loads, and you can reopen that choice from Settings. On iOS the app also asks once for tracking permission; declining leaves everything working, ads simply are not personalised. Patternly Pro removes ads entirely.
Your collection and backup
Your collection lives on your device. Pro can also back it up under a private, anonymous restore code — keep that code somewhere safe, because it is the only way to recover the collection on another device, and anyone holding it can open the collection. Turning backup off leaves the collection on your device and stops syncing.
Your data
Patternly needs no account. To delete what is stored, use Settings → Your data → Clear collection, or uninstall the app to remove everything on the device. Photos sent for identification are not retained after the request finishes. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
